David
and Geneva were born and grew up in Arkansas. They became childhood
sweethearts at age 14. They were married in 1949. They have three children
Rev. David Bruce, Rev. Duwane and Gayla all of whom are in the ministry.
They have ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
David
was a police officer in Little Rock, Arkansas for over twenty (20) years
rising to the rank of Inspector (Assistant Chief). He attended over 25 law
enforcement schools including the FBI National Academy in Washington DC.
He served as President of Arkansas Chapter of the FBI National Academy
Association, Secretary of Arkansas Chiefs of Police Association,
instructor in Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy as well as several
other positions within the law enforcement community. After retiring from
the Little Rock Police Department he became Chief of Police for two large
Veterans Hospitals in Little Rock and later Chief of Police in Camden,
Arkansas where he remained until June 1977. At that time he retired from
police work after over 25 years and surrendered to the call of the Lord as
an Evangelist.
In
1977 they established David Bentley and The Believers Ministry a IRS
recognized 501(c)3 non profit corporation. David and Geneva are Spirit
filled and preach the Bible is the infallible word of God. Roberta Sims,
David’s sister, is an active part of the ministry as bookkeeper and
prayer.
David,
a charismatic evangelist, has attracted thousands to crusades around the
world. He seems to be a preacher that makes a difference. He has a special
knack for delivering thought provoking messages that are simple enough for
a child to understand and yet with depth that will enlighten the most
intellectual.
David
takes the Word of God and applies it to every day life by using stories of
his real life experiences. In so doing many have reported, "For the
first time I see what the scripture is saying, you made it so
simple".
Their
travels have taken them around the world ministering to individuals,
Christian groups, Ministries, Churches and groups of Churches in revivals,
crusades and seminars. In recent years while ministering in foreign
countries David has emphasized "Minister Conferences" in
conjunction with "Crusades". They believe the way to change the
culture is to train the local leaders (apostles, prophets, evangelist,
pastors and teachers) so they can train their people fulfilling the Word
of God as it is stated in Ephesians 4:11-12.
David
is currently the President of World Ministry Fellowship, Plano, Texas.
World Ministry Fellowship is a fellowship of hundreds of ministers around
the world whose purpose is spreading the Good News about Christ and
fulfilling the Great Commission.
